Frequently Asked Questions

Extensions & Upgrades

What is a contract extension or upgrade?

A contract extension allows the customer to stay with their current phone number, while upgrading their phone and signing a new two-year contract through ACN Wireless. The customer must be in the last three months of their contract (may vary by carrier) in order to extend their current contract.

Which carriers will allow me to extend my current contract and still be an ACN Wireless® Customer?

Currently, Sprint/Nextel, AT&T and Verizon Wireless allow customers to extend their current contract through ACN.

If I am not under contract with my current carrier, but wish to sign up with that same carrier through ACN wireless and keep my existing number, is this still considered a contract extension?

Yes, this is considered an extension because you currently have service with that carrier, even though you are not under contract. Remember, only Sprint/Nextel, Cingular/AT&T and Verizon Wireless allow customers to extend their current contract through ACN Wireless.

If I am with a carrier that doesn’t allow contract extensions, such as Alltell, and I want to remain with that carrier, is there any way for me to become an ACN Wireless® customer?

Yes. You would have to start a new line of service, which means you would be unable to port your number. However, if you sign up for a new line of service through the ACN Wireless® website, and get a new number, you may remain with your current carrier and also be considered an ACN Wireless® customer. Keep in mind, you must maintain service on both lines for a minimum of 6 months.

Can I upgrade my phone at any time?

No. Your eligibility to upgrade your phone with your current carrier is dependent on your contract and rate plan.

Can I complete an upgrade or contract extension without purchasing a phone?

No, at this time you must purchase a new phone as well. However, many carriers offer rebates on phones, which in many cases results in the customer getting a free phone. In the event a customer has a current phone that they would like to continue using, they could sign up as an ACN Wireless® customer and select one of the many free phone offers. Then, when their new phone arrives, they could contact the carrier to switch their new ACN service over to their existing phone. However, the customer would still be responsible for the 2 lines of service – the original line, and the new ACN line. The original line should be within the last 2 -3 months of the current contract when the extension/upgrade is being requested and should be disconnected when that contract ends (and also once verified that there will be no ETF). Then, the new service can be switched to the customer’s existing/old equipment.
